| previous: Jim S. Did you replace the original filter... -- 1/6/2000 4:56 PM |
| Bob | Re: Princeton Reverb Yeah, I also rebuilt the power supply with all new stuff and got rid of the can. It's a massive filter (I like low end and tight bass) and I've extensively decoupled almost every stage (All sprague TVA stuff). I'm using the 2-matched 100 ohm resistors and tying off the heater center tap; I've had the best success with this method in the past for AC heaters. I've built a little circuit designed around two 20K cermet pots so each tube has its own bias and it is switchable to cathode bias and I check it about every 250 hours - 3 or 4 times a year. It has never been more than 1 or 2 ma off. I, of course, have also subbed known, matched, brand new sets of tubes with no luck. My wiring is neat; it looks like a one channel Deluxe Reverb inside. I've re-wired hundreds of silverface Fenders, taking out the extra mile or two of wiring inside and, that alone has inproved their sound and noise level, some very dramatically. I don't think its the wiring. Thanks for your suggestions |
