It does not take the place of all amps. I love this amp. I've had this amp for six months and I still love it. You can color your sound with the overtones of the EL84 tubes, depending on how hard you drive them. It is much, much better than just overloading a 12ax7. If you're interested, go to the Harmony Central Review section and look up Guytron. Read the most recent review. ONLY the most recent review. I agreed with everything he said, both good and bad. The amp is unique. I will never sell it, and I will buy others.
