| Doc | Re: Vibrolux Reverb problem I would temporarily substitute another 4AB or 9AB reverb tank that is known to be good. You can use some long audio interconnect cables to jump over to another fender amp's tank for testing. If the non-invasive substitution doesn't fix the problem, you'll have to go inside the chassis. Could be a bad coupling cap, cathode bypass cap, or even the reverb drive transformer. There are only a few capacitors in the circuit. You might want to replace them all at once. It can't hurt, and doesn't cost much. Go over solder joints in general. A weak connection does funny things. Reverb transformers don't go bad often, but some failures do occur. A new one is around $20. |
