Fender Tweed Champ sound clarity...

rb | Fender Tweed Champ sound clarity... Is there anyway to improve the sound clarity of my 1964 "black" tweed champ (5F1 circuit). I just had the coupling and filter caps replaced which helped somewhat. It does the super overdrive sound very well (very compressed too) on "12" but doesn't clean up very much even at 4 or 5 on the volume control. Someone suggested replacing the screen grid resistors. Also, I suppose I could go with a 12AT7 or 5751 preamp tube vs the NOS 12AX7 I have in there now. Any comments appreciated! Tx! |
