quote: ""I just wanted to take this opportunity to remind everybody that the AB165 Bassman design uses a *positive* feedback loop. If you are BF-ing one of these SF Bassman heads to the AA864 specs you will need to reverse the phase of the OT. If the wires are long enough you can just switch the brown and blue wires going to #3 pin of the output tube sockets. Or alternately you can switch the leads going to the grids." - Steve Ahola
"Wasn't it the secondary of the AB165 that is reversed? I think you just switch the leads on the output jack. (maybe I am not remembering correctly..) I realize they do the same thing, but for simplicities sake (and continuity with other sim amps) I'd do the 2ndary. YMMV!" - SpeedRacer
"That would work, too, assuming that you have a stock Bassman OT with just the 4 ohm tap. But if you are using a replacement tranny with multiple taps, you'd want to switch the primary wires- right? I believe that you can reverse the phase by swapping either the primary or the secondary wires... whichever is easier to do. Or swap the wires at the PI caps." - Steve Ahola
"Yes, I was only referring to the amp when using the stock OT. If you put in another OT, you can do whatever you want. FWIW I don't see what difference it would make, but I was told one time by Gene Andre that it does make a difference which side of the OT you reverse. Why, I dunno." - SpeedRacer" |
