The SLX is not the same as a JCM-900 Dual reverb. As far as I know the SLX had an extra tube in the preamp wired as a cathode follower and the 900 DR's did not. The only thing to do for the 900 is build or buy a good preamp(with tone control's) and send the signal into the effect's return to bypass some of the solid state cicuits in the preamp.
