It doesn't really sound like any amp in particular but a combination of many amps. Steve A states at the begining of the cool amp mod page that he borrowed ideas from all the classic amps. Steve might be able to tell you how the FBL alone affects the tone. I didn't turn it on till I had all the mods complete. Let's just say that I am very happy with the sound and it doesn't sound like my Vibrolux side of the amp. Its a cleaner sound with an edge. It also likes either fender or gibson guitars. I hope this helps you. I am really bad at describing tone. Its so subjective anyway. M/J
