Seriously, one of the tidbits I picked up from the IP law guys is a verification of the old saw - you cannot own anything you can't defend. If you don't have the legal wherewithall to fight it out in court, a patent is so much nonsense. The big guys can take it away from you with impunity. If you get justice, it will be decades later, as witness the case of the guy that invented interval windshield wipers. He was turned down by every automaker, and sued when they put intervals on their new cars. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER the courts ruled that the automakers had to pay him.
