Harsh sounding '64 Deluxe Reverb Amp
I would appreciate any comments about my 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp. It has been sounding "harsh", with distorted rhythm sound. This amp should sound smooth and creamy, as does my 1965 Princeton Reverb. This "harshness" occurs when the deluxe is amp on "4" volume (treble on "10" and bass on "4") and using P90 pickups (ie. not particularly high output pickups). The amp is 100% stock, had recent recap and a tech went thru all resistors, etc at the same time. Tubes are NOS (JAN) Sylvanias w/ all American rectifier and preamp tubes. Speaker is the stock (origial cone) Oxford 12. Is the bias too low? high? Thanks for any comments!
