| peter | Re: positioning of choke in layout In a choke (or a transformer also) the magnetic field in the core should not be saturated--- then the magnetic field pretty much stays in the core. But if you put too much current through the choke, the field in the core saturates (i.e. the iron is as magnetized as it can get), and you start to get more of the field outside the core, which of course causes interference. So noise from chokes will vary depending on the current through them, and increases sharply above a threshold.... Apologies if this is less than clear! |
