Actually there isn't an inch of shielded wire in my homebuilt amps. I prefer to use good lead dress, and very well filtered heater/b+ rails to stay noiseless.  
 
I've never touched a shielded hookup that wasn't a royal pain in the ass to strip/solder/use.
