Thanks for the explanation.I see you mentioned Dr. Z at the end of your post.......I had an opportunity recently to hear a group whose guitarist used one of his Route 66 amps through a 4x10 cabinet. The sound ?? All I can say to describe it is WOW!!! Did some digging around for more info on the Route 66.....Uses an EF86 pentode preamp in the front end,a simple control arrangement (Vol.,treble,bass) and a pair of KT66 tetrodes running around 30 watts in ,what I'm told,is an Ultralinear output configuration.From what I heard ,I can totally agree with your comment that UL is the "Only way to rock" !  
This is amp looks very straightforward.Have you (or any of our other gurus)had a firsthand peek at the Route 66?
