I wish I knew how to paste a picture in here it would be more obvious. Anyway the article says this circuit can sub for a 50 to 80W zener. That would be a possible way to drop the V+ without a really expensive zener. The article also shows the NPN version. I know zip about transistors and so I thought I'd throw this one out for comment or pitfalls (aside from the solid state sacralege.) Thanks Marc
