I think Mook tried this (as best he could with no assistance) to not bias his findings in his last "taste test." It's pretty much accepted as fact that the audio memory is extremely short. That's why we do A/B comparisons when shopping for speakers. I would be really surprised if, for example, after hearing an amp with a silver mica vs. disc cap in the tone stack, anyone could identify which was which on statistically significant basis. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
