Fj | 1 input for 5E3... I've completed my 5E3...(Hoffmans layout more or less)...I decided to go with 1 input jack...so I connected that 1 jack to first stage (pin # 2) leaving out the 68K resistor... 1 meg resistor is in place on jack...then I connected pin 2 to pin 7 (on same tube) w / a wire...what I,ve accomplished is 3 1 meg POTS that all (seemingly) function as VOL. controls...could someone explain to me the technical explanation of what I've done?...keep in mind that on Hoffman's 5E3 ...there are 2 separate cathode by-pass caps going to pins' 3 & 8 of 1st stage as opposed to the ORIGINAL 5E3 where there is only 1 cathode cap and pin 3 is connected to pin 8 on tube...whats the difference here?...Frank |
