| Carl B. | Constant Current Source: How about a Current Limiting Diode? Hey guys, I've a "specialty" diodes catalog and was thumbing through it. Zeners, schottkys, etc. What caught my eye was the two-terminaled "Current Limiting Diodes." Very independent of voltage (until some drop-out limitation of course), various models with various currents (micro to tens of milliamps). Why aren't these used more often, instead of using a tube or fet as the current limiting "plate-resistor-high-impedance-replacement?" Or are they used often? I'm somewhat "green" to the high-end/hifi performance tweeking measures. (And just what *does* "SRPP" stand for anyway?) |
