| R.G. | Re: Solen caps in guitar power supply. It's easy to see that youse guys don't have the right perspective Solid copper? Solid *copper*? Why not solid Silver? Much higher conductivity, the oxides are not semiconductive. Shoot, I've never seen an ad for "oxygen free high conductivity silver" wire like I see all the time for copper. Let's do this: take a solid billet of silver about 24" by 8" by maybe 8" and mill it down into a chassis that'll fit inside a Fender combo. I guess we'll have to leave the front, back and bottom about 1/4" thick for strength, maybe reinforce the transformers with aluminum L bracket or some such for strength. Deep phone plugs, but that's no trouble. Man, a good hardened steel bit will last forever in silver! I guess we should sweep up the shavings. Maybe we could trade them for solid silver screen wire for the top of the cabinet. |
