| ChrisM | Re: Marshall Mods / Trace Allen / etc This must be a phase distortion. The two caps have different enough phase characteristics that they create a frequency cancellation at the high end and give you that fatter tone. Pretty interesting. Not the first thing I would have thought of trying, but the phase distortion could have all sorts of flavorful results that could sound far more interesting than simple high/low-pass filtering. My first guess is that the much smaller 330pF cap lets the signal through very quickly, while the larger cap has a higher delay. This wouldn't really effect the slower-changing lower-frequency signals, but could really cancel out some of the higher frequencies, but could also serve to enhance some of them, making the signal a lot more complex. -Chris "This-education-is-finally-coming-in-handy" McLean |
