What I want to do is use a long tail pair driving a pair of cathode-biased 6V6's. So, it would be a bit of a hybrid. I guess it would look like a 6G3 with cathode bias, no NFB, and no trem. Also, lower plate voltage (350V or so).  
It seems to me I'll need more than a single gain stage prior to the phase inverter to push this thing into overdrive. Opinions?
