KT90's or KT88's CAN produce more power--IF the amp will allow them to. If not, they will produce no more than the 6550.  
 
 
 
You can plug them in to find out. Other than that, it's a pretty complicated balance of power supply capacity, output transformer capacity, driver circuit capacity, etc etc.
