I don't get out that far myself as I don't like the risk/reward ratio @ that end of the scale.. (&pardon my 1-H typing.. collicky kid in my other arm!) all things in moderation.. even idle current. the real deal IMO is that it depends on the load line.. the tube can exceed the max for a portion of the swing, but must come back below (to cool off).. the whole duty-cycle thing. I adjust for sound & feel; within the physical limits of the tubes. you usually dont have to go to the edge for tone imo. (ymmv) some will no doubt disagree.. whatever floats those boats y'all.. anyhow, here's some #'s from sylvania.. 6V6GT/GTA 12W plate, 2W screen 315V class A1 max.. 1200V abs max (in a tv circuit..) (this is where Leo had room to fool around!) 6L6GB 19W plate, 2.5W screen 6L6GC 30W plate, 5.0W screen 500V max 6BQ5/EL84 12W plate, 2W screen 300V max 6CA7 25W plate, 8W screen (pentode) 800v max 30W plate (triode) 500v max I have some old Mullard sheets around too.. i'll post that later.. enjoy! -sr
