| Trace | Re: Any tips for cleaning old amp? I like Nu-Vinal in the squeeze bottle for cleaning and shinning up the vinal on the reverb pans in the Fender combos. I remove the pan and vaccum the bottom of the cabinet (there's some StRaNgE stuff in there most of the time!) and blast it will Armor All (sounds off but it make sit look newer.) I usually clean the rear of the speakers off if they are dusty. the Nu-Vinal works well if you apply a hint of it to a rag and then use to rag to remove the dirt and/or dust. This will seem a bit odd but it works nicely. Grab a denture brush (they are stiffer than the average toothbrush) and a bottle of Lemon scented Soft Scrub. Squeeze some out onto the tolex of a cabinet or head and use the brush in circular motions. Then when you are done with a certain area just wipe it off with a shop rag (clean of course.) It has a little "grit" in the cleaner and works GREAT for getting 20-year-old-grunge out of the tolex. You can use water to get any of the remaining residue off if you like but I've found a shop-rag does the trick. This works really great on Blond tolex as well! Plus it leave the amp with a "Lemon'y-spring-clean-sent" Suzy-Amp-Cleaner (ha, ha) |
