Frank, I've seen this also put not the older box, just the 4 input chassie with the 2 hole on the control panel. I'm sure they were trying to save money and use what was left over. It makes sense.

Sure, it's when they switched from the 4-input to the Master Volume series in 1976

You know I noticed the older master volumes ran at a lower plate voltage as well. When they came out with the re-designed JCM800 look (same circuit) the voltages were higher but it's just my findings is all. Anyone else ever experience this?
