I still have a pair of these I pulled out of a client's Marshall.. the whole PSU (from bridge to filter caps) & OT went. Draw your own conclusions. They're about what you'd expect inside: a cap to block off the grid bias, and a big Rk (470-ohm I think) to bias the EL84's. It sure doesn't help that the tube will be way out in nearly cl B territory and running into about 1/2 of the proper load.  
 
They probably run & sound fine some of the time; I'm just not convinced that they're a great idea for everyone..
