Re: Mullard EL34's
In my limited experience with guitar amps, I think that Mullard EL34's are the best power tube I have ever heard. I have a Tweed Princeton clone set up for 6L6, EL34, 6V6, etc. I tried Sovtek 6L6, 5881, RCA 6L6, Siemens EL34, RCA 6CA7, and anything else I could find in the amp, rebiasing for each. The Mullard EL34 by far was the best sounding, with great highs and a very british midrange. However, they were weak in the bass without NFB (the amp has an adjustable feedback pot). I will certainly weep when my stash is gone!
