A 1986 differs from a 1987 by only a couple "bright" caps, and a few other little things.. a: tone stack (is a little different) b: cathode circuit of the 1st stage (is seperated) The 1986 is quite close to the 5F6-A in its basic overall layout. (put 'em side to side..) Those are the "classics" anyhow; they'll take you up to teh early 70's. Someone else can pick up the thread from there..
