Speed,
I think it actually worked better as a 6k8 load with 6v6's than it did as a 3k4 load with 6L6's. The tubes held together really well and sounded great even under the influence of the Marshall style preamp running flat out, which puts a pretty hot signal on the grids. It gave a very interesting sound with a super complex midrange grind and a nice sweet sparkle on top! Quite cool! This is the best sounding all around guitar amplifier OT I've ever used even though it was specifically designed for use with EL-34's. Of course it excels at the vintage 50 watt Marshall application like no other transformer. It also seems extraordinarily stout, and runs nice and cool even with a pair of EL-34's being driven to the point of self destruction. I've never been able to warm this tranny up enough to even soften the beeswax. With 6v6's, I think this tranny is probably completely indestructable.
