"So does this amp "clean up" when you back off the volume control on the guitar?"

"Yes" it does. If you build this without a master volume then it cleans up amazingly well! (see blow) I''ve tried three different OT's so far... OEI's, the stock Hammond, and a Fender SF Bandmaster OT. My favorites are in the order they were listed.

The hardest test to pass is when the preamp (volume) is wide open and the master is around 2 or 3. The OEI was slammin' (as to be expected! ha, ha) the Hammond did fine and sounded great but Speed's OT just sounds better over all...both cleaned up well but Speed's OEI had more of a sparkle/bell like chimey thing happening on the high-end (hard to beat!)

Even with the preamp dimed the Fender OT did clean up but you feel the need to put a bright cap on the Preamp (volume) pot when it's set lower, however, with the other two OT's installed it was not a problem in the least!

If anyone has any questions please feel free to post them here unless you would rather email me, then please do! (ha, ha)
