Yes, I did a cane grille about a year ago and that was the way to go. Soak it in HOT water for at least 30 minutes,and attach it to the frame. Make sure it is totally dry before sealing the cane fabric. I used 50/50 Bullseye Amber Shellac and denatured alcohol to seal and stain it.(like tweed)
