Nate S.Re: Amp Faceplates
I have done a similar thing using a rotary head engraver. I made a BF Fender Princeton Reverb faceplate that can hardly be distinguished from the real thing. Many of these engravers can take an Autocad plot file. The trick is to offset the lines by half the cutter diameter and crosshatch for solid areas. The process goes like this:

Get a very good picture of the faceplate to copy.
Scan it in in black and white
Use KVEC to convert to dxf file
import dxf file into cad package
redraw using splines
offset splines by half cutter diameter
crosshatch fo fill
create plot file
use engraver software to convert plot file to engraving file.
cut faceplate

My Princeton faceplate I generated from a picture on ebay.

Engraver used is a "hermes"
