There's another good reason besides ease-of-assembly to use that push-back cloth-insulated wire.... It stays where you put it (thanks to the solid wire), and it doesn't melt like plastic-insulated wire does, so it can be run under the eyelet board without shorting out the first time the amp warms up a bit.  
 
IMO, this is the biggest difference between the SF and BF amps. UL said "no more cloth wire" (presumably because it's a "fire hazard"...), Fender switched over, discovered that they would now have to reroute the circuits to prevent shorts (and probably fires...), and their nice, oscillation-free layout went straight to hell. So, to "fix" the problem, they had to add all those parasitic-supressing caps we all know and hate....
