| Steve M. | Re: Eyelets Matthew, I vote for the eyelet board. This is the method I fell into, and I like it okay. Maybe someone who likes turret boards better can elaborate. So essentially an eyelet is a hole in your cicuit card lined with a rivet? You put all the component leads through the hole and solder. Anything underneath is trimmed. Correct. Also, sometimes you may want to run wires under the board. I typically don't like to do this. If you are replacing a part and the wire comes undone and falls out of the hole, you have to remove the whole board to put it back into place Any votes for which is easier to fix if you screw things up (as I'm very likely to do)? For eyelet boards, once you have your hole pattern laid out and the board installed, is really difficult to add an eyelet to the board without removing it. I've never used turret boards, but it seems as if you get the "generic" turret boards, i.e. pre-made with equal number of turrets on the upper side of the board and the lower side of the board, it might be easier to reroute a screw up. Just my $.02, YMMV, etc. Steve |
