As long as one end of the resistor is connected directly to the sicket pin and it is a non-inductive resistor, it will work to suppress oscillation, it doesn't matter where the other end of the resistor is connected to, but good sound construction techniques would dictate that it should be fastened to either a terminal strip or to an unused socket pin. suspending components in air with shrink wrap on them is just cheesy workmanship. It will probably work fine 99.9% of the time, but it's a lazy person's way out IMHO. Peter S |
