In a real gigging amp, the screws might come loose and cause problems, with a screw at every node the probability of this would be increased. Other than that, great idea. Wirewound pots are difficult to find in large values; I needed a 200K 15 turn wirewound at work and it was very hard to find at any distributors. Plus, being it is wirewound, you may have inductance issues but I guess this may not be a big deal. I would certainly try one in an amp.
