Re: Secret to green ringer
This thread peaked my interest for the effect and you all gave me a great starting point to try an build the effect. Going thru my parts box I used the following in the circuit subbing some of the components with what I had laying around:

Q1, Q3 - 2N3904's - hFe 138.4 and 142.4

Q2 - 2N3905 - hFe 122.0

1N4148 Si diodes

subbed the .047uF caps for .05uF

subbed 6.2k resistor for a 6.8k

I was not sure if the low values of the transistors would work and I don't have anything to A/B the box nor am I a pro, just a hobbyist but here are my observations playing thru the circuit, switching from the bridge and neck pick ups, the sound was crisp all along the board with the "ring" very strong from the 10th fret on up and a bit mellow on the lower frets to my ears, with a very slight distortion. Cords made a neat bell like tone and "harmonic". The high E string seemed a bit less in volume tho, I was thinking maybe because of using the higher value caps rolling off some of the top end? Any thoughts? What difference would using Ge diodes make in the sound? Any how, thanx for the heads up on the circuit Greg, lot of fun ;-)
