VOX Phaser, crackles a lot
Heloo!! Effects dudes!!! It is I Tim - I posted here a while ago about my murky-sounding Fuzzface.

I've now got a new pedal in my life which is giving me shit. Its a VOX Phaser. Ive been unable to find out anything about this pedal either from Harmony Central or Vox's website. Has anybody here heard of or seen one before? It is triangular shaped & gray with 2 dials (speed and width).

The problem with the pedal is that is makes a truly horrible crackle sound if u strum the low strings too fast. Also its usually a very trebly sounding pedal but sometimes it emits a sudden burst of bass frequencies. This wouldnt matter if it was part of the normal 'sweep' of the phase effect, but it seems to just cut in and out very abruptly. Yuk.

I found a little pot inside the pedal, which I could twiddle with a screwdriver. Altering this seems to have improved the pedal quite a bit - cutting the amount of Crackle in most (but not all) situations and almost curing the bass problem. It's still a long way from perfect tho.

Anybody know what this might be? Or has anybody had experience of Vox phasers? Any help is appreciated!
