I wanted to use the Dallas Rangemaster circuit and mount it to a pot with a push-pull switch to shift it in and out. As to power, measure the circuit drain. If it's in the 1-2ma area, just drop the B+ to 9V with a largish resistor and a 9V zener bypassed with a big cap to ground. Should work just fine.
