Charlie | Shaka Braddah III Built the SBIII, made the pcb using R.G.'s layout of the circuit before the GEO's pcb's were available;-( We used Aron's IRF520/Ge diode clip stage and a NTE778 IC and the circuit works like a charm, crisp, punchy with great sustain and when settings set low, warm and solid. Now the problem, when we put it into the 1590BB we did not get any sound, nadda. Starting to debug I began to take out the pcb from the box, testing for sound after removing components from the enclosure one at a time starting with the pots. Got down to the stereo input jack and the circuit worked again after removing jack. I placed all the other components back except the input jack. Circuit worked w/o input jack attached to box, did not work when attached. Ground problem it seems to me. The jacks are open face type. Anyone run into this problem before? How did you remedy the problem? I can't see where on the layout where I might have got somthing backwards or what exactly to look for grounding trouble. Thanks.... |
