| jens | Re: v@Question. Hi Jen, I'm not a guru here, but I'll try to answer anyway. I believe there is nothing wrong with using shielded wires inside effects. If you are using a metal enclosure for your effect most of the external noise sources should already be blocked out, so the shield would be to keep the internal parts from interfering with each other. Especially in high gain circuits this could be a problem. Then shielding the input and output wire is often recommended as a solution. Or wrapping a ground wire around the signal wire. Or simply moving the troublesome wires further apart. If you are thinking of using shielded wire for all the wire inside the effect (tone stack, switch etc.) I guess that is fully possible, highly overkill in most cases, and it would mean a lot of work to fit in that thicker stiffer wire and connect the shields in a way that does not create a ground loop. Personally I have enough hazzle putting in normal wires What kind of circuit are you building ? |
