For anyone interested in trying this, the edges of the the labels will be less noticable if you clip just a tiny bit off each corner (just kind of round the sharp corner off a bit). About half the time when I paint my boxes I use Speckle Stone or similar paint with a texture, that helps to hide the label edges even more.
