VERY interesting, Peter, I took a look at my Interfet data-sheet for the J201, and specs for the J202 are in there also --your suspician was correct:

These have a higher idss, and higher transconductance. Considering that the original Bluesbreaker was opamp-based, I wonder where they got the idea for those? I wonder if they're just part of the switching-circuit --did you see any opamps in there (black rectangle about 3/8" by 3/4")?
