I found that helpful to me for draining the caps and etc, BUT- if you don't have a lot of electronics experience or confidence, it is better to get some help. Aside from the safety stuff-modding it is pretty simple. The parts are well labeled and easy to access on the PCB. The PCB pops out pretty easily. There seems to be a little "honk" coming from this thing that I suspect may be the speaker-maybe not. Peter, as you have probably found, the tone on this thing doesn't get horribly interesting until you start driving it a little with a stompbox. My Shaka Braddah 4 has really worked well for this.
