Re: what are you guys using for capacitors? I'm not very brand loyal, I hear differences between types(polyester, silver mica, ceramic, etc.) but most ceramics sound like..well,..ceramic caps. Same with the other types. I tend to use whatever I've got laying around from the cheapest recent-manufacture stuff that I get at Circuit Specialists or Radio Shack.com(different than Radio Shack) to all sorts of old obsolete types robbed out of dead electric organs. There are CERTAIN applications where I will specifically use a certain type and brand but those are rare. Maybe if I have a lot of time I could build a bunch of FF clones with close tolerance resistors and transistors, but build each with totally one kind of cap and compare sounds. Of course layering up a 20mf out of silver mica would get a bit silly
