Got to talking a bit about what I've been trying to accomplish with this effect and he suggested that some mechanism of shortening the decay envelope based on a timed event, rather than cutting off the signal after the voltage decays below a certain level might be another approach. I'd imagine this timed approach is pretty common with IC's... I was thinking there's gotta be a way to use caps/neons with higher voltage tube circuits, the trick being to keep these elements isolated from the signal path but controlling it. Yes, no, am I nuts? More reading is definitely indicated Jon
