whats a good sub for a 2SC1849 transistor?

Ed	whats a good sub for a 2SC1849 transistor? Hi I am looking for a sub for 2SC1849 transistor, I have tried the 2SC2901, but it lacked some of the tone and gain, also was noisier than the 2SC1849. Perhaps the circuit needs to be rebiased to those transistors? different resistors at the collector, or emitter? Any help appreciated!     Thanks, Ed
