| Scott | Re: Dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age. My thought on the L6 is that between a Vibratone and a Univibe, one would think that the Vibratone would be harder to duplicate. Yet IMHO, the Vibratone sample is not that far off. Granted nothing will ever replace the sound bouncing off everything, but this comes fairly close. I'm just surprised/disappointed that L6 did not seem to spend as much time on the 'Vibe. I've owned original Univibes and I could tell immediately that their sound was off. As for the rest of the sounds...I'm not a vintage snob. A flange is a phase is a chorus. Yes there are some pedals that stand out in my mind, ie: Small Stone, EBS UniChorus, Phase 90...but quiet and reliable versions of these pedals are much more desireable to me even if the sound is not dead on balls accurate. The other nice feature on the L6 is that with the expression pedal you can change the speed of all the effects on the fly. When was the last time you could do that with your Maestro Mini-Phase? There is always a trade off. It comes down to individual choice. Since I have hit the big time yet and I don't have a roadie to carry my Vibratone for me, the L6 has a secure position on my pedalboard for now. |
