| pHiLtHy | Re: Visual sound Jekyll and hyde overdrive? anyone? ditto for what the others posted here except I can't comment on the caps. i will support that it is an excellent value and offers a lot of flexibility. also, the footswitch arrangement is very clever. because of where the switches are located in relationship to each other, you can switch each "side" of the effect on/off independently or switch both sides on/off at the same time or a psuedo toggle by having one side on with the other side off and by stepping on both switches at the same time, toggle between the two sides. if this sounds confusing, go to their website, i think they probably have a better explanation for it... still, very clever and without a lot of extra circuitry added to the pedal. the Jeckyll side does a very good approximation of a ts808/ts9... if there's a difference between it and the original, it isn't much especially considering that i've never heard any two TS type pedals that sounded the same anyway. The Hyde side reminds me of a Boss DS-1 type distortion but with an added sweepable EQ... very nice. I tried one out for a couple weeks and ended up taking it back. Not because it wasn't a good pedal but I prefer my Boss OD-3 for overdrive and an older MIJ Boss DS-1 or Ibanez Tube King for the high gain stuff. BUT, if I was starting out from scratch as far as stomp boxes go, I would probably just use something like the J&H and call it quits. One thing I will point out though on the negative side. It did seem be noisier than the boss pedals that I use. I imagine that the added noise could be because of the inferior caps that the others posted about... who knows. pHiLtHy |
