I figure it's safe to assume that a device like this wouldn't be left out in the yard over the winter, so how DO nuts get rusted up, and what can be done to avoid or prevent such difficulties? Incidentally, many thanks to all for the wonderful compendium of penetrating oils. When you go into an electronics-related place, there are only so many fastener or friction-related situations anticipated, and a correspondingly small number of solutions to them. One forgets the diversity of belligerent fasteners in automotive situations, and the large number of soutions to those problems that might be found at an automotive place. The insight is appreciated. BTW, I was initial reluctant to examine this thread because I thought it had something to do with a sexually transmitted disease....but that's just me.  |
