Best DIY Envelope filter pedal? any opinons

rich r	Best DIY Envelope filter pedal? any opinons seen a couple of schematics on the web but its impossible to know how they sound. Im looking for the sound of an old vintage (mutron?) i played at a vintage guitar store, i remember it was dark blue, and priced around $600-800. anyone remember the sound of the guitar solo on Edie Brickell and the new bohemians' song "What I am". Or the sound of Jerry Garcia's tone on alot of stuff. Thats the sound im looking for, very vocal. ive got a boss one that has the basic idea, but its definitely not there. thanks for your input! rich
