In case you wanted separate box for each switch, you could use the connecting signal wires. just add a caps to the input and output, say 20uF and apply 9V to the line after the caps, so the power doesn't get in the effect. This should also reduce your hum, as the signal goes just positive. You must use the caps for blocking the DC. This is what HIFI maniacs do connecting low signals through long wire or connecting speakers. Hope this helps, K.
